The New Orleans Fire Department helped artist Jana Napoli burn her massive art installation, 'Floodwall,' as the Algiers annual bonfire.
The Algiers Holiday Festival on Dec. 3 featured the burning of the art installation.
Napoli's work featured 700 drawers she collected after Hurricane Katrina as a way of documenting what was lost in the storm.
The work has been on exhibit in various places around the world, including Poland.
The purpose of burning the art is for the public to participate in a collective final release of Katrina woes, Napoli said.
